Canada US Trade Positions

Both the Canadian and the US middle class is under threat from technological changes and the demographic shift underway. Both countries are in need of structural economic reforms. Canada and the US need to negotiate an updated trade agreement which benefits the middle classes in both countries. Both countries need greater social equity in order that all in out societies can realize their potential and contribute to society.

Softwood Lumber: Both Canada and the US Middle Classes would benefit from unimpeded Canadian access to the US market - lower US housing prices

Dairy: Both Canada and the US Middle Classes would benefit from a phased out of the dairy market oligopoly pricing - this is pure rent seeking and the costs fall disproportionately on the poor in Canada

Agricultural Subsidies: Both Canada and the US Middle Classes would benefit from a reduction of the enormous US agricultural subsidies - this is pure rent seeking by agrobusinesses

The restraints on alchohol trade both within Canada and with the US should end - this is pure rent seeking
